CAPE LIGHT COMPACT CONTINUES TO INCREASE TRANSPARENCY

Compact makes operational information more accessible to members of the public

Barnstable, MA – Cape Light Compact continues to increase transparency regarding its operations. In response to interest in Cape Light Compact’s programs, additional information has been added to the Compact’s website.

“Anyone can see that we post much more information on our operations than utilities or other energy companies,” Downey said. “We don’t expect to satisfy all critics, but it is our hope that making more information available and accessible will help to diminish misconceptions and answer outstanding questions.”

The Compact has also met with the state Attorney General’s Office in regard to questions they have received from the Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates. The Compact informed the Attorney General’s Office that it will provide any information requested; however, the Compact will not be duplicating that same information in the proceeding before the Department of Public Utilities regarding the Compact’s updated Aggregation Plan. “We want to make sure that people know we are already engaged with the Attorney General’s office to clear up misunderstandings,” Downey said.

Available information on the website includes:

  • All Compact revenues and expenditures from 1997 through 2013. The Energy Efficiency expenditures have customer names redacted in order to protect the privacy of the Compact’s customers. In addition the names of individuals and organizations that the Compact purchases Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from are also redacted to protect their privacy.
  • Compact budgets
