Cape Light Compact works with different vendors to offer comprehensive assessments and programs to businesses based on the amount of electricity (kWh) used on an annual basis. The information below is for businesses that use less than 1.5 million kWh per year. No-cost Small Business Comprehensive Assessments.

The Small Business Program provides no-cost energy assessments that offer information on energy savings measures ranging from quick low-cost improvements to longer-term upgrades on your existing building. The resulting energy action plan indicates costs and savings related to specific energy efficiency improvements.

Who is eligible?

Any business that uses less than 1.5 million kWh per year and has an active Eversource electric account may participate in this program. In addition, we have special offerings for tenants and non-profit agencies which can be found below.

How does it work?

  1. Call 1-800-797-6699 to sign up or click here to sign up online for a no-cost energy assessment.
  2. The Compact’s energy specialist will reach out to determine existing conditions at your facility to help identify potential energy savings measures. The energy specialist may complete a site visit to finalize recommendations.
  3. You will then receive a customized proposal outlining energy efficiency recommendations.
  4. Recommended improvements will be installed by our qualified vendor.

What incentives are available?

When applicable, during the assessments sites will receive the following energy savings measures at no cost:

  • Efficient screw-in lamps to replace inefficient lamps
  • Aerators
  • Showerheads and spray valves
  • Smart Strips

In addition, the following list of measures (with applicable incentives) may be assessed at the time of the assessment.

Non-Profit Offer

Cape Light Compact recognizes that some charitable non-profit organizations may not be able to make energy efficiency improvements to buildings that they own. The Compact is offering enhanced incentives up to 100% for recommended improvements.

Who is eligible?

  • Non-profit must own the building or have an eligible long-term lease. Please contact Cape Light Compact for details.
  • Non-profit must provide a copy of charitable 501(c)3 status and have been in operation for at least 5 years on Cape Cod and/or Martha’s Vineyard
  • Annual electric usage for all accounts on the site did not exceed 1,500,000 kWh in the prior twelve months, and the active electric account must be in the non-profit’s name
  • Please note that customers that qualify for this enhanced incentive cannot participate in the financing option through Cape Light Compact.

How does it work?

  1. Fill out the application and send the completed form and information to Cape Light Compact (mailing and email info on the form).
  2. Staff will review the application and provide notification of acceptance (if applicable).
  3. An energy assessment will then be completed on your building to determine what energy efficiency opportunities may be available.

Tenant Offer

Cape Light Compact recognizes that micro-businesses that rent their place of business may not be able to make energy efficiency improvements. To help make these upgrades more affordable, the Compact is offering enhanced incentives (up to 95%) to eligible tenants.

Who is eligible?

  • Annual electric usage for all accounts on the site does not exceed 30,000 kWh in the prior 12 months, and the electric account must be in the tenant’s name.
  • An energy assessment has been completed within the last 12 months. If you have not had an assessment, please call the Compact at 1-800-797-6699 to sign up.
  • Business must have occupied its current location for more than 12 months (36 months if the lease is now month to month).
  • Business must have 12 months or more remaining on its current lease (if applicable).
  • The business must be an unrelated party to the owner of the building except for its relationship as a tenant. Both the tenant and the building owner must execute the application.
  • Note: Customers that qualify for this incentive cannot participate in the financing option offered through Cape Light Compact.

How does it work?

  1. Call Cape Light Compact at 1-800-797-6699 to sign up for a free energy assessment, or to indicate your interest in the enhanced incentive if you have already had an assessment.
  2. At the time of the assessment receive an application that will need to be completed to confirm the incentive level.

Financing Offer

Cape Light Compact, in conjunction with its vendor RISE Engineering, is offering a no-interest financing option to eligible small business customers (with annual usage less than 100,000 kWh), for qualifying energy-efficient lighting projects that have been recommended through an energy assessment. This financing is available through RISE Engineering and can be repaid in up to 12 monthly installments directly to RISE, in exchange for a reduced energy efficiency incentive.

How does it work?

  1. Call 1-800-797-6699 to schedule a no-cost energy assessment of your building.
  2. Obtain an application for financing from the energy specialist and complete application for eligibility review.
