Community First Partnership
Energy bills can be a significant burden for many Cape and Vineyard families and small businesses and can disproportionately affect residents of Environmental Justice communities. Energy efficiency solutions can dramatically reduce energy bills, improve indoor air quality, and create more home comfort. And the programs are available for everyone.
The Cape Light Compact and the Sponsors of Mass Save have many programs to help families and small businesses manage their energy costs—from heating equipment and weatherization upgrades to new appliances and income-based assistance. We partner with organizations and local communities across the state as trusted local experts to help Massachusetts families and small businesses located in Environmental Justice communities save money and energy through our programs.
In 2023 Vineyard Power was selected as the Cape Light Compact's first Community First Partner.

Community Education Grant
Through the Mass Save Community Education Grant, the Cape Light Compact and the Sponsors of Mass Save are supporting Environmental Justice Communities to bring energy efficiency education programs to their residents.
Grant funding and support serves to increase awareness and access into energy efficiency programs as well as engage with community-based organizations to promote energy efficiency-focused educational and culturally relevant opportunities. The Sponsors of Mass Save are prioritizing increased engagement with local communities through energy efficiency education and literacy to help equitably reduce the energy burden and carbon footprint across Massachusetts Environmental Justice Communities.
In 2023, The Cape Light Compact, in partnership with National Grid, awarded a Community Education Grant to the Faith Communities Environmental Network (FCEN). With this grant, FCEN hosted Energy Cafes with faith communities across the Cape and shared information about the benefits of an energy-efficient home, and how to access low-cost or no-cost energy efficiency upgrade opportunities.
