Cape Light Compact has programs that may be available if you are building a new facility, doing a major renovation or expansion of an existing building, or where energy code may be triggered. These programs offer technical assistance and incentives that will help identify energy-saving measures, that will improve the energy performance of your building and make it more comfortable.

It is important to engage the Compact early on in your project (even if it's in the rumor stage) in order to maximize the energy efficiency offerings that may be available for your project.

You can also check out our Frequently Asked Questions and Case Studies page for more information.

How does it work?

The Compact has 2 main paths that you may undertake with your project.

  1. If your project involves the installation of HVAC, lighting and building envelope measures, the Compact's vendor will work with your design team to provide technical assistance in order to help maximize the energy efficiency of your building. Again, the earlier we are involved in the design phase the better.
    • Information on Planning for Efficiency Early in Design
      • Higher energy savings increase energy efficiency incentive offers
      • Begin energy analysis early in schematic design to maximize comprehensive energy efficiency
      • Electric energy efficiency incentives are provided by Cape Light Compact
      • Natural Gas energy efficiency incentives are provided by National Grid
      • Incentives are only available when projects are enrolled before the end of design development and pass cost-effectiveness screening
    • For more information please contact the Compact at or call 1-800-797-6699.
  2. If you have specific measures that you are looking to install measures (other than the combination of HVAC, lighting and building envelope), please refer to our incentive applications to determine what may be applicable to your project. These generally involve a pre-approval process, so it is important to submit the application(s) to the Compact as soon as possible.
