PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release December 08, 2025
South Yarmouth, MA – Cape Light Compact has set the electricity supply rates for its renewable aggregation electricity supply program for the upcoming pricing term that begins with the January 2026 meter read dates and ends on July 2026 meter read dates for residential and commercial customers.
The Compact’s new residential pricing will be 14.064 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh). This newly announced rate represents a slight increase from the previous term, due to the increased cost of natural gas used to generate electricity during the heating season, but is one cent per kilowatt hour lower than Eversource’s recently announced basic service supply pricing.
Cape Light Compact power supply customers should see this price reflected on the electric utility bills that they receive in February. If you are unsure whether you are on the Compact’s supply, check the “Supply” section of your most recent electric bill. If the supplier is listed as NextEra Energy Services, you are enrolled in the Compact’s Supply program. If you have a different supplier and wish to switch to the Compact’s supply, customers may do so by calling 1-800-381-9192
“The Compact is dedicated to securing competitive rates for Cape and Vineyard electric customers. While these rates are a slight increase over the previous term, they provide savings when compared to Eversource basic service rates,” said Maggie Downey, the Compact’s Chief Administrative Officer. She continues, “The most effective way to offset higher energy costs is to participate in the Compact’s energy efficiency programs. A properly insulated home can help customers reduce the load on their heating system and decrease energy usage during the colder winter months.”
Residential and commercial customers, including renters, can begin with a no-cost Energy Assessment to identify energy-saving opportunities and qualify for incentives on efficiency upgrades. The Compact, the Cape and Vineyard’s Sponsor of Mass Save®, offers significant rebates on insulation, air sealing, heat pumps, and other upgrades to make buildings more efficient and comfortable for all seasons. Additionally, income-qualified and moderate-income customers may receive incentives of up to 100% of the cost of weatherization and other upgrades.
Starting this winter, Eversource has introduced a new delivery rate for customers that heat all or part of their home with a heat pump. The Heat Pump rate reduces the distribution and transmission charges for eligible customers from November 1st to April 30th. Since the heat pump rate is on the delivery side of the electric bill, not the supply side, customers on the Compact’s supply can still receive the rate reduction. Customers who received a Mass Save heat pump rebate after January 1, 2019 will be auto-enrolled in the program and should have already received notification from Eversource. Customers who received a rebate before January 1, 2019, installed a heat pump without a rebate, or did not receive an auto-enroll notification, should visit https://www.eversource.com/heat-pump-rate to find enrollment instructions.
During the winter months, customers should be aware that there are many resources for those who need assistance paying their energy bills. Customers can explore billing and payment options including gas and electric discount rates, fuel assistance, and arrearage forgiveness programs. Cape Light Compact Power Supply Pricing
In addition to the standard renewable power supply product, the Compact offers two CLC Local Green℠ options. CLC Local Green℠ allows customers to choose to have 50 or 100% of their electricity use matched with additional Massachusetts Class 1 RECs. These RECs allow for the customers’ electricity usage to be matched with certificates from renewable energy generated in New England. While the standard power supply program helps directly finance new renewable energy projects, CLC Local Green℠ goes above and beyond to provide additional support for local renewable energy development in New England. Pricing for CLC Local Green℠ 50 includes a premium of 1.0 cents per kWh above the standard power supply price, and CLC Local Green℠ 100 includes a premium of 3.0 cents per kWh.
The Compact’s new commercial rate for January 2026 through July 2026 meter read dates will be 14.185 cents per kWh, and the industrial rate for the period of January 2026 through April 2026 meter reads will be 14.266 cents per kWh.
