Cape Light Compact’s Standard Electricity Supply Product is 100% Renewable
This means that, for electric usage by Cape Light Compact Residential Electric Customers on the Standard Electricity Supply rate in 2025, NextEra Energy Services Massachusetts retires renewable energy certificates (“RECs”) and clean energy certificates (“CECs”) as follows:
- RECs and CECs to meet the state-mandated Clean Energy Standard (“CES”) and Renewable Portfolio Standard (“RPS”), which may include RECs from wind, solar, biomass and other renewable generation resources, equal to 63.1% of usage
- RECs in addition to those required by the RPS and CES from a MA Class I resource in a quantity equal to 1% of usage
- RECs in addition to those required under the RPS representing generation from North American wind resources in a quantity equal to 35.9% of usage. Learn more here.
- The Compact also offers two Local Green products that match customers’ usage with additional MA Class I RECs.

Current Competitive Electric Supply Agreement

- In 2018, the Compact entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC to purchase energy and Massachusetts Class I RECs from just under 5 MW of the 77 MW Farmington Solar project. Electric Power Suppliers are required by the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) to provide customers with a disclosure label. The label enables consumers to look at the energy sources, air emissions and information about the supplier in order to make a more informed choice of a electrical supplier. Consumers can compare energy labels to make the best choice based on their energy needs.
