Save Energy and Increase Comfort with Air Sealing and Insulation

Does your home feel drafty in the winter or struggles to stay cool in the summer? You could be losing heated air in the winter and cooled air in the summer through air leaks and lack of proper insulation in your home. The program aims to address these issues by offering incentives of no-cost air sealing to you and up to 75-100% off any insulation work!

What is Insulation and Air Sealing and Why Are They Important for Your Home?

Air Sealing: The closing up of gaps and cracks where air leaks in or out of your home. Addressing these leaks can help keep warm air in during the winter and hot air out in the summer, reducing the strain on your heating and cooling system.

Insulation: Acts like a thermal blanket for your home. Insulation is typically found in your attic, perimeter walls, as well as basement sills. Proper insulation can help improve comfort, and reduce energy usage and your environmental impact.

*Customers must live in a 1-4 unit home. Customers in multi-family properties are eligible for the incentives available through that program. Details can be found here.

Eligibility for some rebates/incentives is based on findings from the Home Energy Assessment. Some restrictions apply and offers are subject to change or cancellation. Financing is subject to approval from a participating lender.

Completion of weatherization is required for a number of other rebates including, windows, moderate-income heating and cooling, and whole home heat pump rebates. Customers who complete weatherization recommendations made during an energy assessment prior to a partial home heat pump installation may be eligible for a $500 bonus. Ask your energy specialist for more details.

Have a chimney?

We also have a $35 incentive on chimney balloons, a small inflatable device that can help stop drafts. Download the chimney balloon rebate form here.

Barrier Mitigation

During your Home Energy Assessment your Energy Specialist may identify any barriers preventing the installation of insulation including knob and tube wiring and vermiculate. You may be eligible for incentives to help cover the cost of barrier mitigation.

How to Get Started

The best way to identify and resolve any air sealing and insulation opportunities in your home is to schedule a no-cost Home Energy Assessment

  • Call Cape Light Compact at 1-800-797-6699 to set up your Home Energy Assessment or click here to sign up online.
  • What To Expect: At your Home Energy Assessment, your Energy Specialist will compete an attic-to-basement energy evaluation of your home. You will receive a customized Home Energy Action Report outlining any air sealing and/or insulation opportunities found, as well as present you with the action steps you can take to make these energy efficiency upgrades!
  • Complete Your Upgrades: After signing your weatherization contract, the Energy Specialist will notify an independent insulation contractor on your behalf, to reach out to you to schedule the recommended air sealing and insulation work at a date and time that works best for you. If you prefer to use a specific contractor, you can select one of our participating contractors by using our Find a Contractor tool.

Customers receiving a 75% incentive may be eligible to finance the remaining 25% of the insulation cost, as well as the removal of some weatherization barriers.
