Cape Light Compact Offers Energy Education Resources for Parents and Teachers<\/strong><\/p>\n \nSouth Yarmouth, MA \u2013 Cape Light Compact (Compact), the local Mass Save\u00ae Sponsor, is proud to partner with the National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project to offer Cape Cod and Martha\u2019s Vineyard parents and teachers access to energy education lesson plans. The lesson plans are aligned with the Massachusetts Department of Education Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards.<\/p>\n \nThe Compact recognizes that the impacts of COVID-19 have caused teachers to find themselves educating students in new ways, and parents are now taking an even more active role in their children\u2019s education as schools continue to be closed in the coming weeks. The Compact hopes to continue its support in educating the region\u2019s students about energy through these new lesson plans.<\/p>\n \nA new lesson plan will be available for use by teachers and parents every Monday in April. Each lesson plan is intended to be taught over the period of a week. If schools are closed beyond May 4th, additional lessons will be added for each week that schools are closed. The four topics currently covered are Energy Sources, Electricity and Electricity Generation, Electricity Conservation at Home, and Measuring Your Electric Consumption.<\/p>\n \nEach lesson offers grade-specific variations broken into grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 specific materials. These lessons will include a short reading activity, a worksheet, and additional learning resources.<\/p>\n \nThe lesson plans can be found at www.capelightcompact.org\/parentteacherresources.
