{"id":4583,"date":"2018-03-28T20:36:22","date_gmt":"2018-03-29T00:36:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.capelightcompact.org\/press-release\/attorney-general-takes-action-against-competitive-electric-suppliers-deceptive-marketing\/"},"modified":"2018-03-28T20:36:22","modified_gmt":"2018-03-29T00:36:22","slug":"attorney-general-takes-action-against-competitive-electric-suppliers-deceptive-marketing","status":"publish","type":"press-release","link":"https:\/\/www.capelightcompact.org\/pt-br\/press-release\/attorney-general-takes-action-against-competitive-electric-suppliers-deceptive-marketing\/","title":{"rendered":"Attorney General Takes Action Against Competitive Electric Suppliers&#8217; Deceptive Marketing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PRESS RELEASE<\/p>\n<p>For Immediate Release:\u00a0 March 28, 2018<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>South Yarmouth, MA \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0The Cape Light Compact JPE (Compact) Governing Board voted at its meeting today to applaud the Attorney General\u2019s Office of Ratepayer Advocacy on its actions on behalf of electric customers that have been affected by certain competitive electric suppliers\u2019 deceptive marketing practices.\u00a0 The Compact has been advocating against and warning customers about many of these misleading practices over the past few years and has published a <a href=\"https:\/\/3jy14ha9u771r7qzn35g0s6c.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Competitive-Supplier-Flyer-053117.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">consumer checklist<\/a> when shopping for power supply on its home page at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capelightcompact.org\/\">www.capelightcompact.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Compact reminds all consumers to protect their private information, including their Eversource account numbers, and to review all promotional offerings and all of the terms and conditions before signing any contracts for power supply.\u00a0 The Compact is always here as a resource,\u201d said Maggie Downey, Cape Light Compact JPE Administrator.<\/p>\n<p>Cape Light Compact focuses on consumer advocacy as well as power supply and energy efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so pleased that the Attorney General is watching out for electric customers and looking to safeguard people that have fallen prey to deceptive marketing ploys by some competitive suppliers.
