This is enough to power approximately 146,000 homes for one year and produce carbon offsets equivalent to planting 133,000 trees. This information is contained in the Compact\u2019s term report on energy efficiency activities for calendar years 2013-2015 filed with the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources and the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities on August 1<sup>st<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Cape Light Compact concluded the final year of its second three-year energy efficiency plan with historic results. The Compact, along with other Massachusetts Program Administrators, was able to attain significant levels of energy savings, while maintaining budgetary control and complying with the directive of the Green Communities Act (GCA) to seek all cost-effective energy efficiency opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a reason why Massachusetts has been named number one in the nation by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) for energy efficiency efforts for five years in a row,\u201d states Maggie Downey, Cape Light Compact Administrator. \u201cThe Compact has worked hard in exceeding its three-year goals by translating over $100 million in costs into more than $398 million in savings and benefits for ratepayers on Cape Cod and Martha\u2019s Vineyard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>2013-2015 Term Report Highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In 2015, Cape Light Compact achieved the greatest amount of energy savings, for a single program year, in its history and surpassed the lifetime MWh savings goals in each of the three customer sectors.<\/li>\n<li>Cape Light Compact\u2019s Energy Efficiency Programs re-invested over $100 million in cost-effective energy saving measures in homes and businesses on Cape Cod and Martha\u2019s Vineyard in 2013-2015.<\/li>\n<li>Approximately 45,000 Cape Cod and Martha\u2019s Vineyard residents and businesses took advantage of Cape Light Compact\u2019s Energy Efficiency Programs.<\/li>\n<li>2013-2015 Program participants will experience more than $275 million in benefits over the life of the measures installed. These benefits come in the form of: lower electric bills, reduced carbon emissions and deliverable fuel savings.<\/li>\n<li>Completion of the LED streetlight initiative which converted over 15,500 streetlights from high pressure sodium to LED fixtures.
