CAPE LIGHT COMPACT ANNOUNCES NEW LOWER RESIDENTIAL ELECTRIC RATES FOR THE WINTER SEASON<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Yarmouth, MA \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Cape Light Compact has set the electricity supply rates for its renewable aggregation power supply program for the upcoming pricing term that begins with the January 2025 meter read dates and ends on July 2025 meter read dates for residential and commercial customers.<\/p>\n

The Compact\u2019s new residential pricing will be 12.024 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh), which is over 1.3 cents per kilowatt hour lower than Eversource\u2019s recently announced basic service supply pricing. This newly announced rate also represents an 8% decrease from the Compact\u2019s current rate, 22% lower than the Compact\u2019s supply rate last winter, and the lowest rate since 2021. Compact power supply customers should see this price reflected on the electric utility bills that they receive in February.<\/p>\n

While electricity supply rates will be lower beginning in January, the Compact emphasizes that customers should continue to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and businesses. A properly weatherized home or business and an energy-efficient cooling system can help keep you comfortable throughout the hot summer months, while reducing your energy usage.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Compact is dedicated to securing competitive rates for Cape and Vineyard electric customers. Typically, rates increase during the heating season, so we are happy to see a decrease for customers this year,\u201d said Maggie Downey, the Compact\u2019s Chief Administrative Officer. She continues, \u201cEven with lower electric supply costs, it is important for customers to continue to seek ways to be more energy efficient. The Compact offers rebates and incentives for insulation, air sealing and heat pumps to help customers ensure their homes and businesses are energy efficient.\u201d<\/p>\n

Residential and commercial customers, including renters, can begin with a no-cost Energy Assessment to identify energy-saving opportunities and qualify for incentives on efficiency upgrades. The Compact, the Cape and Vineyard\u2019s Sponsor of Mass Save\u00ae, offers significant rebates on insulation, air sealing, heat pumps, and other upgrades to make buildings more efficient and comfortable for all seasons. Additionally, income-qualified customers may receive incentives of up to 100% of the cost of weatherization and other upgrades.<\/p>\n

Despite the decrease in electricity supply costs, customers should be aware that there are many resources for those who need assistance paying their energy bills. Customers can explore billing and payment options including gas and electric discount rates, fuel assistance, and arrearage forgiveness programs. Cape Light Compact Power Supply Pricing<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition to the standard renewable power supply product, the Compact offers two\u00a0CLC Local Green\u2120\u00a0options.\u00a0CLC Local Green\u2120\u00a0allows customers to choose to have 50 or 100% of their electricity use matched with additional Massachusetts Class 1 RECs. These RECs allow for the customers\u2019 electricity usage to be matched with certificates from renewable energy generated in New England. While the standard power supply program helps directly finance new renewable energy projects,\u00a0CLC Local Green\u2120\u00a0goes above and beyond to provide additional support for local renewable energy development in New England. Pricing for\u00a0CLC Local Green\u2120\u00a0 50\u00a0includes a premium of 1.3 cents per kWh above the standard power supply price, and\u00a0CLC Local Green\u2120 100\u00a0includes a premium of 3.6 cents per kWh.<\/p>\n

The Compact\u2019s new commercial rate for January 2025 through July 2025 meter read dates will be 13.102 cents per kWh and the industrial rate for the period of January 2025 through April 2025 meter reads will be 13.077 cents per kWh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
