Orleans Chamber and Cape Light Compact Create Innovative Partnership: “Orleans Energy Savers”

Initiative designed to help small businesses save energy and money

ORLEANS, MA – In celebration of this year’s Earth Day, the Orleans Chamber of Commerce announced “Orleans Energy Savers”, an innovative partnership with Chamber member Cape Light Compact to help small businesses and non-profits become more energy and fuel efficient. The initiative will provide turn-key energy efficiency and fuel savings services to small businesses and non-profits in the Chamber’s membership.

As partners, the Orleans Chamber and Cape Light Compact will market commercial programs provided by the Compact to existing and new members of the Chamber. With rebates covering up to 80% of the costs, most projects pay for themselves within one year or less.

“We’ve seen case studies of businesses in Orleans who are saving thousands through energy efficiency and we want to help other small businesses and non-profits do the same,” Executive Director of the Orleans Chamber of Commerce, Noelle Pina said. “We look forward to providing our members with cost-effective energy solutions for any business that wants to save energy, increase profits, attract customers and be greener.”

Orleans Energy Savers partners have already begun reaching out to all eligible businesses including restaurants, grocery and convenience stores, beauty salons, banks, law offices, accounting and insurance firms, gas stations, retailers and non-profits.

Cape Light Compact provides an extensive list of retrofit and new construction programs which are designed for businesses based on the amount of electricity they use each year and the type of project undertaken.

“We are happy to be partnering with the Chamber to promote these energy efficiency programs that will help businesses save energy and money each month on their energy bills,” said Maggie Downey, Cape Light Compact Administrator. “These improvements can provide a more inviting atmosphere for customers and increase the comfort of the work space.”

Programs for existing buildings provide resources to businesses looking to replace working equipment and systems and install more energy efficient equipment including high efficiency lighting, building envelope, HVAC, and refrigeration and controls. These programs are for small, medium and large energy users, municipalities and multi-family properties.

Programs for new construction assist business customers who are building new facilities or conducting major renovations. The program provides incentives including technical assistance to help identify energy saving measures to improve the energy performance, value and comfort of facilities. These programs also include savings on high efficiency lighting, HVAC and instant rebates on commercial foodservice equipment.
