Congratulations to Massachusetts NEED School of the Year 2009:

Eastham Elementary School's Green Energy Army

Project Advisor: Maggie Brown

"We started out with several goals for the year. One was to update our recycling area and create a user-friendly center. Another goal was to host an energy carnival at our school where students, staff, parents and community members came to learn about green energy options. We had experts come to our class and teach us about energy from wind and the possibilities of hydropower. We researched wind, hydropower, geothermal energy, solar power and power from biomass. We created projects to show others about the different froms of renewable energy. Each of our groups also made a game to share with others at our energy carnival. Our Green Energy Army staff on the newpaper took all the pictures. It was a blast!
