Energy Efficiency Programs

Cape Light Compact is in its 9th year of providing highly cost‐effective energy efficiency programs to residents and businesses on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. Since July 2001, Cape Light Compact has invested over $50 million in energy efficiency programs that have brought tremendous long‐term benefits and a return on investment for our customers and the region, including:

CONDUCTING over 15,500 FREE energy assessments for residential, business and government customers on the Cape & Vineyard since 2001
SAVING approximately 18 megawatts (MW) of peak electric generation – offsetting 1.6% of Mirant Canal Generating Plant’s rated capacity of 1,126 MW
SAVING over 103,600 megawatt hours (MWh) of energy use – the equivalent CO2 emissions from 8,396,152 gallons of gasoline consumed
SAVING our customers over $20.7 million annually on their electric bills

Cape Light Compact estimates that their energy efficiency programs will result in an annual net-benefit reduction of approximately $218 million dollars in electricity costs for their customers over the three-year period 2010-2012.

Cape Light Compact’s Energy Efficiency Programs provide a variety of options and activities to support regional energy efficiency and renewable power development, while support the existing Green Communities Act legislation enacted at the state level in 2008.
